The state of London Unison

Those on the left who stood against the forces of the 'office' were defeated at the regional Council AGM. This was the 3rd year of defeat. The United Left (not that united by the way..) did not learn any lessons and left organising the last minute. As a result the all 6 regional lay officer positions were taken by the other side.

It is simple to see why the United Left lost again. They appear arrogant and openly present themselves as a drinking club with out of date Albania type of ideologies that are out of date, out of shape and out of time. They will never learn though so the office will continue running the show..

The end....

Well. It was all about taking on the challenge and defending pure principles of democracy and fair play. This blog was started because we found the personal attacks from the filofax man (probably some official) against people he did not agree with offensive, hostile and an attack on democracy. We wrote to the General Sec and asked him to do something about this man, this person who knew almost immediately who said what 10 minutes after an NEC meeting would finish. What a give away. He has either decided to give up or he is waiting for an opportunity to come back. What he said and how he said it discredited Unison. I hope that Dave Prentis deals with this man...

This blog will now stop unless......

Thanks to the people who attended the 2 meetings most of whom were women. Lets chat at conference and decide what next?

Minutes from 19 May meeting

Thanks to those who were able to attend. The following were discussed:

1. Organisation
2. Decisions on Regional Council motions 24 May
3. Election of coordinating group
4. Health Service conference June 17th Brighton
5. National conference 19th June in Brighton
6. Contacts with other groups
7. Links with Black Members in the region (where our strength is)
8. Contact GLA (discussion on this)
9. AGM elections in Feb 2008 (preparation)

The meeting decided that future meetings should be held in a more central location and that north London was not accessible to all.

Date of next meeting to be announced soon (probably at Brighton)

The filofax man

Good to see that the filofax man blog (or whatever he calls himself) has decided to give up doing his site. A blog full of negetivity and personal attacks on individuals who, despite their wrong idiology, have the right and the freedom of speech. And I do hope that the General Secretary will deal with the demand to find this 'person' and bring disciplinary charges against him, and if this person is an officer then he must be dealt with under internal disciplinary procedures.

John MacDonald had a farm...

Well well... what can I say. Been busy fightin for my position as my job was deleted by my employer. One amongst so many deletions. But we managed to save ourselves and others. So a bit more time to deal with other issues.

Hope the lala land left learn a lesson now with what happened with the attempt by John MacDonald to contest the Labour party leadership election. I am sure there will be a lala land motion going to Regional Council on the 24th congratulating him for being on television more often (in the last 2 weeks) than Tony Blair... Big achievement am sure

The filofax man...

Been told that the blogg has attracted the attention of an NEC man who writes a blog called filofax or buy a fax? Can't remember which of the two..

Anyway apparently this guy has also attracted the interest of some on the left and the right who are not sure who is behind it. But it is obvious to me that if someone can publish detail and comments of an NEC meeting half hour after the NEC met then that person is clearly on the NEC or if not is fed by a source on the NEC. The big question is whether anyone cares or gives a sausage as to what he says or who he is? The answer is... ah.. No! Ah.. and please Mr filifax man.. don't get back to me saying that sausage is spelled with two s's... I don't care!!

The NEC election..

I am doing a comment on the NEC elections as some of you have contacted me wanting to know what my views are on this?

Well my view is a simple one. We need to ask why we have representatives on the NEC and what we want them to do for us when they are there. I don't, to be honest know much about all the candidtaes but here's my take on their performance at regional Council meetings

Louise Cooling. Smart enough to be successful on the NEC so not a waste of a vote if you decide to put your 'x' next to her name

Jon Rogers. An irritating 40 something year old who thinks he is 24 but means well and has given the establishement a lot to think about. So vote for him if you have to

Marsha Janet Thompson. New but fresh and if we believe in having young members elevated then might be worth it.

Glen Kelly. He has taken the establishment on but needs to calm down with his call for revolution every Thursday morning. Otherwise he has done well on the NEC so keep him on!

I don't know much about the others so I won't comment. But if an ordinary member like myself doesn't know much about the others doesn't that mean they haven't done much?

Food for thought!
